  After 30 years of creating and selling jewellery, and after much soul searching, we have come to the decision to retire and close Argent of London. The market environment has become increasingly difficult. The fallout from the recent budget, the cost of living, rise in inflation, the cost of gold - at an all time high - and the price of silver collectively have made conditions untenable for us, as well as numerous other businesses. Consequently, the business will close at midnight on 31st January 2025. We still believe in our original philosophy of offering first-class products backed with customer service that goes beyond customers' expectations. This has been our fundamental touch stone since inception. Thank you for your loyal support and the many, many appreciative comments we have had over the years. Our beautiful Aegina Ancient Coin Necklace is based on a replica coin of an ancient 'Drachma of Aegina', an island of Attica. A mould was taken from a 540BC coin that was not only the first Greek, but also European, coin used as currency of the time.
